Position Description:    

An Associate in Research Position is available to work with Professor David F. Katz in the Department Biomedical Engineering at Duke University. The appointment will be for one year. Projects will include use of a custom spectroscopic instrument (confocal Raman spectroscopy and co-registered optical coherence tomography) to measure and characterize the transport of select molecules into and through tissue specimens in vitro, properties of select tissue specimens, and mathematical modeling of the transport processes of molecules as released from multiple delivery systems into tissue (simulating both in vitro and in vivo processes). The qualified candidate will have experience in: routine wet lab procedures (e.g. media preparation, cleaning and preparation of tissue), use of materials testing instruments (e.g. viscometers) and optical testing instruments (e.g. spectrometers), and use of numerical methods (e.g. Matlab) to process data and to solve differential equations
