Position Description:    

The Institute for Theoretical Physics of the Albert Einstein Center for Fundamental Physics at the University of Bern expects to have a PhD position available, starting in October 2020 at the earliest. The position is for three years, possibly with a one-year extension.

The faculty at the institute consists of Thomas Becher, Matthias Blau, Gilberto Colangelo, Jean-Pierre Derendinger, Admir Greljo, Christoph Greub, Martin Hoferichter, Mikko Laine, Susanne Reffert, Urs Wenger and Uwe-Jens Wiese. Research areas include collider physics, effective field theories, thermal field theory, flavour physics, lattice field theory, string theory and supersymmetry. For more information see

The PhD work will be carried out in the group of Thomas Becher (precision predictions for jet processes at the LHC) or Uwe-Jens Wiese (non-perturtative methods in QFT with applications to particle or condensed matter physics).

Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a transcript of records, a research statement and a copy of their masters thesis (or a draft thereof if still in preparation), and arrange for 1-2 letters of recommendation.

Preference is given to applications submitted by August 1, 2020.
