The Triangle Universities Nuclear Laboratory (TUNL) and the Department of Physics at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina seek an Associate in Research with strong interest and experience in experimental nuclear structure and nuclear reaction studies using gamma-ray and neutron beams. The accelerator facilities at TUNL include the High-Intensity Gamma-ray Source (HIGS) and a tandem van de Graaff accelerator. This position is funded by grants from the Department of Energy. The person filling this position will carry out research at HIGS using gamma-ray beams and in the tandem laboratory using neutron beam. Candidates for this position are expected to have experience with experiment techniques used in low-energy nuclear physics research, e.g., gamma-ray spectroscopy, charged-particle detection and energy measurements, neutron time-of-flight, experiment simulation software, detector signal processing, data acquisition electronics and data analysis.
