Postdoctoral Associate Position in Applied Economics in the
Neill Lab Department of Population Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences College of Veterinary Medicine Cornell University Ithaca, NY The Department of Population Medicine and Diagnostic
Sciences at the College of Veterinary
Medicine, Cornell University, Ithaca, New York is seeking a highly
motivated postdoctoral associate, with an outstanding record of independent
research in economics, to carry out interdisciplinary research projects to join the Neill Lab. Projects may include analyzing
profitability of payment plans for veterinary clinics, analyzing consumer
behavior for various food products, determining the economic impact of new
policies on antibiotic resistance in food and livestock, examining the
cross-market impact of animal diseases, among others. Every attempt will be
made to align projects with the candidate’s field(s) of expertise. Experience
with consumer behavior, panel data, and/or time series models is desired.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work in a
team, are essential for participating in our multi-disciplinary team. A proven
track record of writing scientific papers and grant proposals is desired.
Successful candidate should possess a strong work ethic, creativity,
enthusiasm, and attention to detail. The Neill
Lab conducts research in many areas related to food policy, consumer behavior,
labor and education, and veterinary economics. The Neill lab is part of the new
Center for Veterinary Business and Entrepreneurship (CVBE) at Cornell
University. The CVBE is a collaboration between the College of Veterinary
Medicine and the S.C. Johnson College of Business. Located in the Department of
Population Medicine and Diagnostic Services at Cornell University in Ithaca,
NY, our research is primarily focused on exploring issues related to various
economic issues surrounding the veterinary medicine industry. In addition, our
lab has funded research related to consumer behavior, food policy, and food
marketing. We use a wide range of econometric techniques to analyze numerous
issues facing the food chain, veterinary medicine, and associated industries. Responsibilities: (1) Design and perform relevant economic
analysis for various research projects as it relates to consumer behavior,
veterinary economics, and/or food policy. (2) Publish work in relevant journals
and present work at conferences. Required
qualifications: Individual must have a Ph.D. prior to start date in Economics,
Agricultural/Applied Economics, Statistics, or closely related field with
strong knowledge base and extensive experience in applying various econometric
methods. The chosen candidate must be able to start no later than July 1st,
2021, with the opportunity to begin before said date. This is a one-year appointment, subject to renewal based on performance and available funding.
