The Smerlak group at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences (Leipzig, Germany) has openings for one or more postdoc positions to work on quantitative evolutionary theory. Topics of interest include but are not restricted to: - Analysis and inference of empirical fitness landscapes - Application of physical concepts to evolutionary problems - Evolutionary modeling of social dynamics The Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences is a leading center for applied mathematical research in Germany. The broader scientific environment in Leipzig includes two other Max Planck Institutes (Cognitive Science and Evolutionary Anthropology) as well as the University of Leipzig. The successful candidate(s) will have both an independent research program and a desire to collaborate across disciplinary boundaries. Salary is competitive based on experience. The position includes a self-managed travel budget; relevant initiatives (conference, workshops, etc) can be funded. Start date is flexible but earlier is better.
