Inquiries or questions should be directed to Prof. Bjoern Penning (penningb@umich.edu) Job Summary The astroparticle group at the University of Michigan invites applications for a postdoctoral research assistant in direct dark matter searches. The successful applicant will play a major role in operation and data analysis on the LZ direct detection experiment. The successful applicant will further take on a leading role in the development of future low mass (sub-GeV) direct DM searches. Expected start date is at the earliest convenience.
The successful candidate will join a vibrant and diverse research group in one of the leading physics departments with strong contributions in experimental and theoretical particle physics and astrophysics. Required Qualifications Applicants must have a PhD, or expect to receive one before their start date. A good understanding of the methods and techniques used in experimental particle physics is essential, enthusiasm to go beyond existing experience is highly valued. Necessary skills are the ability to perform independent research, good written and oral communication, and the willingness to travel. Knowledge of common software and research tools (python, c++, latex etc) is expected. Further experience with cryogenics, grid computing and GEANT is desirable. Additional Information
