Department of Architecture
Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Architectural Design

The Department of Architecture at Cornell University invites applicants for a full-time Lecturer/Senior Lecturer position for a three-year renewable appointment with an intended start date of July 1, 2021. Renewal is contingent upon performance reviews, the ongoing need for the position, and the availability of funding.

Architecture at Cornell dates back to the founding of the institution; it is one of the oldest programs of its kind and has a long and distinguished tradition of design, scholarship, and teaching. Degree programs in the department include a professional bachelor of architecture (B.Arch.); a professional master of architecture (M.Arch.); a post-professional master of science (M.S.) in advanced architectural design; M.S. degrees in computer graphics and matter design computation; and a Ph.D. in the history of architecture and urban development. The new M.S. degree in matter design computation and state-of-the-art facilities — including the OMA designed Milstein Hall and the Mui Ho Fine Arts Library — reflect both a continuing commitment to excellence and an ongoing renewal of architectural education at Cornell
.
The positions of lecturer and senior lecturer are primarily, if not entirely, teaching positions. Requirements of the position include the ability to teach design studios across both core and advanced levels of the B.Arch., M.Arch. and M.S.AAD programs, as well as required courses and elective seminars in at least one or more of the following areas: Visual Representation, Architecture History and Theory, Emerging Technology, Building Technology, Urbanism, Environmental Systems and Sustainability. Responsibilities also include curriculum development, advising and service.

A professional bachelor's or master's degree in the field of architecture is required for this position, in addition to experience in teaching architectural design, a sustained body of critical practice and research, and a commitment to contributing to the cultural, intellectual and creative discourse of the department.

All applicants should submit a one page statement of intent, curriculum vitae, portfolio (to include both practice, pedagogy and samples of student work), a proposed core and or advanced studio syllabus and a proposed seminar/lecture course syllabus, list of three references, and a statement on diversity and inclusion (maximum of one page) that outlines your past, present, and/or future aspirations to promote equity, inclusion, and diversity in your career as an architect and educator, and/or convey how you see these commitments materializing as a faculty member at Cornell. Visit the below website for more information on our required statement on contributions to diversity:
