The Department of Computer Science in the Faculty of Arts & Science at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in the area of Machine Learning with a focus on Deep Learning. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, and will commence on July 1, 2021, or shortly thereafter.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science, or a related field, with a demonstrated exceptional record of excellence in research and teaching. The successful candidate will have an established international reputation and will be expected to sustain and lead an outstanding, innovative, independent, competitive, and externally funded research program of international calibre, and to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. We welcome exceptional candidates who transcend traditional backgrounds or discipline boundaries, and candidates whose research and teaching interests complement our existing strengths. Evidence of excellence in research, at the highest international levels, will be demonstrated by highly original research with significant impact, a sustained record of contributions and publications (or forthcoming publications) in top-ranked journals or conferences meeting high international standards, a compelling research statement, distinguished awards and accolades, and strong endorsements by referees of top international stature.

Evidence of excellence in teaching will be demonstrated by strong communication skills and a teaching dossier submitted as part of the application to include: a compelling teaching philosophy statement highlighting teaching experience, areas of interest, awards and accomplishments, and also including sample syllabi and teaching evaluations. Experiences that can positively impact the ability to teach a diverse student body are highly valued.

Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, and is competitive with our North American peers.
