Postdoctoral
Associate Position in in Epidemiology/Modeling
of AMR in Livestock
The Laboratory of Dr. Renata Ivanek in the Department of Population Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences at Cornell University is seeking a highly motivated and outstanding postdoctoral researcher to work on epidemiology and modeling of antimicrobial use and resistance in livestock. What we do: Dr. Ivanekâs research is in modeling and epidemiology of infectious and foodborne diseases. Ongoing projects include modeling of COVID-19 among workers in the food industry; food safety risk and sustainability assessments; modeling antibiotic resistance in livestock; âdigital twinâ models of microbial hazards in complex, built environments; and modeling of food spoilage and optimization of food systems to reduce food waste. Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have (i) a PhD degree in epidemiology or a related field, (ii) robust research experience in epidemiologic methods and/or mathematical modeling, (iii) good track record of publications, and (iv) strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as an effective member of a multidisciplinary collaborative team. The following additional qualifications are desired: (i) Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM or equivalent), (ii) research experience in epidemiology/modeling of antimicrobial use/resistance in livestock, and/or (iii) experience in using R software. Timeline: Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
