Position Description:

The Tsung-Dao Lee Institute (TDLI) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to perform experimental research on quantum materials.  We are seeking a highly qualified individual with interest and experience in condensed matter physics, particularly who with expertise in the use of scanning probes and other experimental techniques to study the electronic properties of quantum materials (QMs), 2D- and/or other nanostructured materials.  The successful applicant will collaborate with Prof. Chi Ming Yim on the set-up and optimization of an ultra-low temperature scanning tunneling microscopy equipment, and its use to study at the atomic scale the ground state electronic properties of different QMs both in their pristine form and under strain tuning.

Initiated by Prof. Tsung-Dao Lee (Nobel laureate in Physics in 1957), TDLI is a newly founded international research institute aiming to establish itself as a center for science and innovation of global influence, and to serve as a top-notch research hub for the international physics and astronomy community.  Under the founding director Prof. Frank Wilczek (Nobel Laureate in Physics in 2004), TDLI currently focuses on three key physics areas: high-energy physics, astrophysics, and quantum physics.  TDLI has a highly international study and research environment, with English being the working language and more than 1/3 of its faculty body being foreign researchers.

Applicants must have obtained a PhD degree in Physics or related disciplines before the starting date.  Experience in the use of scanning probes and other UHV equipment, handling low-temperature cryogens and script-programming for data analysis (with Mat-lab, for example) are highly desired.
