The University of Washington seeks to appoint an INT Senior Fellow for the Institute for Nuclear Theory, the Department of Energy’s national visitor center in this field (see https://sites.google.com/uw.edu/int/about). The successful applicant will also be appointed as a tenured Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Washington. This is a full-time position, anticipated to begin in Fall 2021. INT Senior Fellows receive 12 months of funding annually. This position has a 9-month service period with an expectation that the faculty will work through the summer.

INT Senior Fellows contribute to maintaining and enhancing the vitality of the local research effort as well as the INT’s visitor programs and workshops, which in recent years have attracted approximately 400-450 visitors annually. In addition to engaging in research in their particular area(s) of expertise, Senior Fellows benefit the INT’s mission by having a broad perspective on nuclear physics and a commitment to building ties with related subfields, including astrophysics, particle physics, atomic physics, and condensed matter physics. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service; in particular, opportunities are available to INT faculty for teaching, advising graduate students, and mentoring postdoctoral scholars.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in Physics, or foreign equivalent, and a strong record of published research in nuclear theory, broadly construed.
