The Department of Molecular Physiology and Biological Physics at the University of Virginia invites applications for a tenured/tenure-track faculty position in cryo electron microscopy or tomography. The Department seeks to expand its strengths in structural, cardiovascular, cancer, and membrane biology as well as biophysics towards cryo electron microscopy analyses on the single particle to cellular level. The Department is closely affiliated with UVA’s Molecular Electron Microscopy Core facility providing access to state-of-the art cryo EM resources (Titan Krios and Glacios with Gatan K3 and Falcon 4 direct electron detectors, respectively, and F20 with CMOS camera). It is expected that the new hire will integrate cryo-electron microscopy with other approaches to solve important biomedical problems. Applicants are expected to be highly collaborative and integrate well with a growing number of researchers and physician scientists in basic and clinical departments of the UVA School of Medicine. Tenure status and rank of the position depends on qualifications. Highly competitive start-up packages will be offered.

Successful applicants will have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree, will be highly creative, and must have demonstrated exceptional scholarly success in their field. Demonstration of sustained grant or equivalent support is required for appointments at a mid-career or senior rank.
