The Department of Romance Studies at Boston University seeks a full-time Lecturer in Italian, beginning July 1, 2021. Responsibilities include teaching and curricular development from beginning to advanced levels of language courses, and cultural studies in some of the following areas: Italian film and media; contemporary literature; current politics, migrants, second-generation Italians (from Ethiopian, Somali as well as Maghrebi origins); fashion and food industries in Italy. Minimum requirements include an MA in Italian, Second Language Acquisition, or a relevant field; demonstrated excellence in college-level teaching for at least three years; native or near-native proficiency in Italian and English; and knowledge of current issues and methods in language teaching as well as experience in film studies. The successful candidate will also demonstrate ability to integrate language and culture and to contribute to curriculum development in a dynamic and collaborative language program.
