The Peace and Conflict Studies Program at Colgate University (PCON) seeks a visiting assistant professor for a one-year appointment, beginning fall semester 2021. The successful candidate should have expertise in a field of broad concern to peace and conflict studies, including but not limited to: regional or transnational conflict, gendered conflict, ethnic or religious conflict, racialized policing/violence, conflict over resources, post-conflict societies, cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, information warfare, terrorism, or human rights. Candidates may have research experience, including fieldwork, in any geographical area. We welcome applicants with disciplinary training in sociology, anthropology, political science, international relations, international studies, history, or geography. Doctorate in hand or guarantee of completion by July 1, 2021. The successful candidate will teach at all levels of the program, beginning with the Introduction to Peace and Conflict Studies (PCON 111), and other courses consistent with the candidates’ interests and the program’s needs. The VAP will also have the opportunity to contribute to program activities, including lectures, workshops, and events that support faculty scholarship. The successful candidate may be asked to contribute courses to the university’s Liberal Arts Core Curriculum. The annual teaching load at Colgate is five courses.
