INTRODUCTION

The Department of Educational Psychology invites applications for an Assistant Research Professor position that is a full-time research position. 

The successful candidate will coordinate the three-year Connecticut Intensive Intervention Implementation Initiative funded by the Connecticut State Department of Education. This initiative involves scaled implementation of an intensive-intervention system called data-based individualization (DBI) and a rigorous evaluation of the efficacy of the system.

The Assistant Research Professor will, (a) participate as a member of the project leadership team, (b) support dissemination of project activities and results (e.g., conference presentations, journal articles, policy briefs, infographics), (c) support manualizing interventions and creating instructional materials, (d) coordinate data collection and observations in participating schools (e.g., data collector training, reliability, materials, scheduling, data entry), (e) coordinate with subcontractors on activities related to professional development, coaching, and building MTSS systems, (f) work with methodological team regarding creating and maintaining the project database, (g) work directly with schools/districts to proactively support project activities and problem solve any issues or challenges related to project implementation, and (h) supervise GAs and student workers. In addition, this person will also have the capacity to pursue, secure, and manage additional external funding opportunities consistent with this position's focus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. in special education, school psychology, or an allied field;
  • At least three years of experience in a school or similar setting as a practicing teacher, as a school psychologist, or in another instructional capacity;
  • Previous experience working on and/or coordinating applied school-based research projects.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience implementing intensive interventions in applied educational settings, including data-based individualization, within a responsiveness-to-intervention or multi-tier support system;
  • Previous experience recruiting schools and districts for research projects;
  • Previous experience coaching teachers or leading professional learning communities;
  • Previous experience leading and managing research teams including collaboration with multiple principal investigators and external partners; and/or;
  • Previous experience with supervision of graduate and undergraduate research assistants and professional staff.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, 11-month, non-tenure track end-dated position with an anticipated  start date (negotiable) in May 2021 and renewable annually subject to anticipated funding by CSDE. The successful candidate’s academic appointment will be at the Storrs campus. Faculty may also be asked to teach at one of UConn’s regional campuses as part of their ordinary workload. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
