The Department of Radiology at UMass Medical School seeks dynamic applicants for a full-time, non-tenured track position as an Anatomist/Medical Educator in the Division of Translational Anatomy. This position provides tremendous opportunities for innovation, collaboration, and professional development within and across disciplines. The successful candidate will join a team of anatomy educators whose primary responsibilities involve teaching the foundational anatomical disciplines in our integrated medical curriculum. At UMMS, anatomy is taught using a combination of cadaveric dissection, prosection, 3D models, virtual anatomy and simulation technology. Anatomy teaching is highly integrated with diagnostic imaging, including hands-on ultrasound training.

Duties will include teaching cadaveric dissection-based laboratory sessions, as well as leading small group, classroom and/or online sessions. The candidate will also contribute to curriculum development and creation of educational materials and experiences for a wide range of learners throughout our undergraduate and graduate medical education programs. Our School of Medicine is in the midst of major curriculum change which provides unique opportunities for creative development of new learning resources and crafting experiences that span the continuum of medical education and breadth of pedagogies.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic candidate with strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills who has demonstrated success as an educator in a collaborative environment. Applicants should show evidence of engagement and productivity in the scholarship of Anatomy education by dissemination of their work through peer-reviewed publications or presentations, and by involvement in regional and national level organizations. Professional service (i.e., serving on department, school, or institutional committees) will be expected.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. or M.D. degree (or equivalent) and demonstrated excellence in didactic and dissection-based teaching in the full regional spectrum of medical gross anatomy. Experience teaching related disciplines (i.e., neuroanatomy and/or physiology) is desirable, yet not required. Applicants at all levels of experience will be considered. UMass Medical School faculty appointment will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
