The Tufts University Neutrino group invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the field of neutrino physics. The successful applicant will work in collaboration with Prof. Taritree Wongjirad on the Short Baseline Neutrino Program (SBN) and the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE). The group is focused on new physics searches and studies of neutrino-argon interactions with the SBN program and in the planning of the near detector for DUNE.
For more details into the group's current activities please refer to the website, https://sites.tufts.edu/nutufts/.
The postdoctoral researcher will be expected to carry out research on SBN, and contribute to the development of DUNE. The researcher will also have the opportunity to take part in
the group's involvement with the Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Fundamental Interactions (https://iaifi.org/).
Please submit a curriculum vitae, a statement of research interests, and arrange for three letters of recommendation to be submitted to academicjobsonline.org by June 4th, 2021 11:59 PM eastern. Completed applications received by the deadline will receive full consideration.
The target start date for the position is July 1st, 2021, though this can be negotiated to be either earlier or later. The position is for two years guaranteed with the possibility for renewal.
Requirements:
* Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Nuclear and Particle Physics or a closely related field prior to beginning the position.
* Experience in data analysis, simulation and/or instrumentation within Nuclear and Particle Physics or closely related fields.
* Great verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work well in a research environment that requires intensive collaborations.
It is highly desired if the candidate has expertise in one or multiple areas below:
* Expertise in neutrino or accelerator-based experiments;
* Expertise in data analysis and software development associated with large and complex datasets, preferably using modern machine learning techniques; or
* Expertise in hardware instrumentation and/or data analysis associated with liquid argon time projection chambers.
