Position Description:

The Pontzer Lab at Duke University seeks a research associate to work on projects exploring human metabolism and metabolic health from an evolutionary perspective. The ideal candidate will have experience working in laboratory settings operating and maintaining scientific equipment and assisting with the management of supplies and budget. The position will require self-direction and the ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively with undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral researchers in the in lab. Candidates must have obtained their BA or BS prior to the start date.

Responsibilities will include operating and maintaining equipment, managing budgets and research supplies, administering IRB and IACUC protocols, managing personnel schedules, and assisting as needed with data collection and analysis.

This position will provide the opportunity to interact with scientists across Duke, including world leaders in cardiometabolic health at the Duke School of Medicine and the Duke Global Health Institute. Salary will be commensurate with experience. The initial appointment will be for one year, with the possibility of renewal for subsequent years pending positive performance and funding.
