The Massachusetts Institute of Technology invites applications for a temporary position as a Lecturer in Arabic. This is a temporary appointment beginning January 1, 2022 and ending June 30, 2022, with teaching duties through May 31, 2022. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Responsibilities include teaching two Arabic language undergraduate-level sections at the introductory level, and associated preparations and office hours. The selected candidate will teach one class in MIT’s January term and one class in the spring term. Subjects are planned for in-person instruction, though this is subject to change.

Candidates must have:

  • A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Arabic language, teaching Arabic as a foreign language, second language acquisition, or a related field;
  • Native or near-native spoken and written proficiency in Arabic and English;
  • Experience teaching Arabic language at the college or university level;
  • And demonstrated interest and experience in language pedagogy.
