The Department of Biologyat Boston University invites applications for Postdoctoral Associate/Lecturer appointments starting September 1, 2021. These positions are designed for recent Ph.D. recipients planning to pursue teaching-intensive academic careers that will also incorporate research activities, such as faculty positions at primarily undergraduate two- or four-year institutions. Initial appointments are for one year, and typically renewed for 1-2 additional years based on satisfactory performance. Responsibilities are divided between teaching and research. The instructional component will involve guided experiences in teaching discussion sections and/or laboratories of undergraduate biology courses during the academic year; the qualifications to teach Introductory Biology, Human Physiology, and/or Biochemistry laboratories are particularly desirable. Each applicant will also be expected to develop and teach their own undergraduate course in their area of expertise during the second year of their appointment. Candidates are expected to participate in one or more of Boston University’s pedagogical instructional seminars or programs, such as those provided by the Center for Teaching and Learning, and to help faculty in the department to implement innovative, evidence-based teaching methodologies in their courses. Research will be conducted in the laboratory of a faculty member in the department, with summers devoted primarily to research activities. Additional information about our academic programs and research interests of faculty can be found at https://www.bu.edu/biology/.

Applicants should submit a current CV, teaching statement, research statement (with research faculty member[s] of interest identified), and arrange to have three letters of reference submitted through https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/18918. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue on a rolling basis and continue until all available positions are filled.
