University of New Mexico Lecturer Position

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of New Mexico invites applications for a full-time (9-month) lecturer position. Primary responsibilities include teaching three lower-division undergraduate physics and/or astronomy courses per semester. Duties will include service roles associated with the introductory program. Rank and salary will be commensurate with education and experience. The expected start date is August 1, 2022, with classes beginning on August 22, 2022.

A Ph.D. or M.S. in physics or astronomy is required with Ph.D. preferred. A successful applicant with an M.S. will be hired with the rank Lecturer II, and a successful applicant with a Ph.D. will be hired with the rank of Lecturer III. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience in lower-division undergraduate classes, excellent student/peer evaluations, a demonstrated ability to deliver lectures effectively and inspire students, and a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success as well as working with broadly diverse communities. A successful candidate should also demonstrate good supervisory skills and excellent communication skills and work ethic.
