Johns Hopkins University's Humanities Institute (HI) and Center for Language and Speech Processing (CLSP) seek to appoint post-doctoral researchers in the nascent Center for Digital Humanities (CDH). Applicants may have primary background in either humanistic or computational disciplines, but should demonstrate a keen interest and aptitude for working at their intersection, particularly in developing/bringing to bear machine learning techniques for traditional scholarship.

Responsibilities will be tailored to the individual, but will allow a majority focus on the applicant's research agenda in the digital humanities while also contributing to the development of the CDH via some mixture of collaboration, teaching, and engineering. Post-docs will be encouraged to engage fully with the HI, CLSP, and broader University communities in ways conducive to their research.

The research statement (up to 1000 words) should outline empirical research they would pursue during the appointment, and may suggest potential synergies with active scholarship and collaborators in one of JHU's humanities departments: English, History, Ancient Near East Studies, Philosophy, Classics, History of Art, Comparative Thought and Literature, Modern Languages and Literature, History of Science and Technology, Archaeology, and the Writing Seminars.

Start date: As soon as August 31, 2021
Duration: One year with possibility of extension
