Teaching Postdoctoral Associate Department of Food Science College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Cornell University Ithaca, New York

The Department of Food Science is seeking a full-time Teaching Postdoctoral Associate to coordinate and train a cohort of Masters of Food Science (MFS) students within the Food Science Department. The Postdoctoral Associate would meet with students to discuss group projects and oversee their experiments in a scheduled laboratory setting. The Postdoctoral Associate is expected to coordinate laboratory times with the students and departments and help schedule resources necessary for the projects. 

The following responsibilities would be expected:
 • Schedule open office hours for student questions 
• Oversee student experiments including monitoring lab safety 
• Advise students on project steps, interpretation of results, and professionalism 
• Meet with faculty members to discuss student/project progress 
• Assist students with final presentations and reports Work Breakdown: Instructional Planning/prep 20% Teaching/Instruction 60% Advising 20% Qualifications: 
• Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in a life science discipline, with some formal training in education.
• Should have excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, team building and collaboration skills. 

 Terms of Appointment: This is a 1-year postdoctoral appointment with the possibility of extension based on satisfactory performance and available funding. The position is available immediately for qualified individuals.

Pay Ranges:

The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:

  • Prior relevant work or industry experience.
  • Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.
  • Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary)
  • Unique applicable skills.
