The Bernhardt lab at Duke University is recruiting an early career scientist with excellent communication skills and strong interests and experience in socioecological research to help lead a newly funded Research Coordination Network SWISLR - Saltwater Intrusion and Sea Level Rise in rural landscapes: Assessing Risk and Identifying Mitigation and Adaptation Options for Rural Coastal Plain Communities. The goal of the SWISLR -RCN project is to address the lack of holistic understanding of the environmental and social impacts of saltwater intrusion and sea-level rise (SWISLR) on the vast, predominantly rural ecosystems and communities of the North American Coastal Plain. Successful applicants will be: interested in research at the interface of social and environmental sciences; skilled at engaging with diverse audiences; and enthusiastic about synthesis and outreach.

The position comes with a starting salary of $52,704 and funds are available for a three year appointment contingent upon performance. The postdoc will be cosupervised by Emily Bernhardt at Duke University and Xi Yang at the University of Virginia and will work closely with faculty from more than a dozen universities.
