The Physics Department at Stanford University invites you to apply for a postdoctoral position in experimental particle physics with Professor Lauren Tompkins. The candidate will spend their time as a member of the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. The ATLAS experiment is one of four major experiments at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN which explores a diverse range of topics from Higgs Boson production to searches for dark matter and physics beyond the standard model. The position is to be based at CERN.

In this position you will:

*Participate in the commissioning of the Level 1 Calorimeter Trigger system, specifically the gFex component at the beginning of Run 3 of the LHC. *Analyze ATLAS data from Run II and III of the LHC *Collaborate with members of the gFex and L1Calo teams *Publish research findings in journals and present at conferences *Mentor students at the undergraduate and graduate level

For this position you need:

*A PhD in particle physics, astroparticle physics or related discipline *Experience in at least one of: high-energy physics data analysis, trigger and data acquisition systems, detector commissioning and operation, software architecture and development *To be proficient with computer programming in C++ and python. *To be able to communicate effectively through documents and presentations *To be committed to do your part to create an inclusive working environment

The most important qualifications are a demonstrated ability to tackle new problems and an eagerness to work collaboratively.

The Stanford group, led by Professor Lauren Tompkins, is deeply involved in trigger and data acquisition systems as well as analyses of Higgs boson production, standard model QCD measurements and exotic dark matter searches. This position is to be based at CERN with occasional travel to Stanford and elsewhere for meetings and collaboration.
