Position is located in Ithaca, NY, within the ILR School on the campus of Cornell University.

The School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University has an immediate opening for an Extension Associate – Workplace Disability Inclusion Associate in the K. Lisa Yang and Hock E. Tan Institute on Employment and Disability in the Extension/Outreach Division.

This position is responsible for developing and delivering programs and services that are closely aligned with the strategic mission and core values of the ILR School, and for monitoring quality, impact, and outcomes of education, training, technical assistance, consulting and research activities of the program. The Extension Associate will participate with other academic staff in setting YTI and project-specific goals. In addition, the Extension Associate will actively engage and participate in both ILR and YTI general events and activities as available. This position of Extension Associate reports to the Program Director, Inclusive Workplaces.

Extension Associate is a full-time, academic, non-tenure track, term position with an initial appointment through September 30, 2023. The position may be re-appointed based on recommendations by the appropriate Executive Director, Director and Associate Dean as well as available funding and work.  

This position will support the USDOL-ODEP funded National Employer Policy, Research and TA Center (Employer Assistance and Resource Network on Disability Inclusion/EARN) grant to operate an employer-focused disability policy development and technical assistance center.

Project-Related Emphasis:  This position provides a range of training, content development and programming to employers, primarily in the area of workplace disability inclusion.

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree or higher in in human resources, industrial and labor relations, employment and/or disability-related law, social sciences, vocational rehabilitation, disability studies, instructional design, adult education, or other related field.
  • Minimum of two to four years conducting training to relevant target audience, and/or conducting employment research and training and developing products for employers, as well as providing consultation, and research services to regional, state, or national networks through the use of in-person, print, and electronic mediums.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and experience teaching adult learners. 
  • Experience in teaching and developing situated or distributed learning including online courses, and how to meet web accessibility requirements are required.
  • Knowledge of digital learning objects, multimedia instructional technologies, synchronous and asynchronous distance education, and instructional design and assessment methodologies. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in collaborative environments and to contribute to the innovation and outcome success of a team.
  • Relevant professional leadership and network development at the state, regional, national, and/or international areas in relevant professional, trade, policy, or public networks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree in related field. 
  • Demonstrated writing ability and scholarly record in the thematic content area (articles in peer-reviewed journals, articles in trade publications, research and project reports, informational brochures, policy briefs, etc.
  • Professional credentials in disciplinary area, such as appropriate state and national licensure, certifications, etc.
  • Minimum three years of experience with distance learning.
  • Minimum of one to three years demonstrated experience in successful grant writing and grant management.
  • Minimum of one to three years in effectively managing assigned projects.
