FULL TIME FACULTY SEARCH: ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN THEATER STUDIES

NYU, Tisch School of the Arts, Department of Drama invites applications for a tenure-track position in Theater Studies at the rank of Assistant Professor to commence academic year 2022-23. We seek scholars who specialize in African American theater or who examine African American theater through a comparative framework. Secondary areas of research might include U.S. Theater History, Critical Race Theory, or other pertinent areas. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in hand and demonstrated excellence in teaching and scholarship. We are actively seeking applicants that have a commitment to equity-forward teaching practices and who recognize and embrace the values of inclusivity and diversity, both in the classroom and the field. The Department of Drama has a curriculum that combines the rigorous study of theater history, dramatic literature, and performance theory with professional training in acting, musical theater, design, stage management, devising, directing and playwriting and includes an Honors track as well as a minor in Applied Theater.

Employment responsibilities include teaching a writing-intensive Introduction to Theater Studies course and four additional undergraduate courses each year, along with committee service. Opportunities for curriculum building at NYU’s global site in Accra, Ghana may also be available.
