The Boston University Department of Biology invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Cell & Molecular Neurobiology starting in Fall 2022. We seek a colleague who investigates basic or translational mechanisms of neurological and psychological disorders such as autism, cognitive disability, epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease or schizophrenia. We seek a candidate who uses cutting edge technologies to understand mechanisms at the cellular, molecular, neurocircuit and/or brain function levels. Candidates may use animal models or human neurons/brain tissues. This position will synergize with our recent hiring of faculty with expertise in systems-level analyses of the nervous system and neurological disease models. Responsibilities include growing a vibrant research program with extramural funding, teaching at the graduate and/or undergraduate levels, and participating in graduate training. The successful candidate will join a strong and growing interdisciplinary Neuroscience research community at Boston University that also benefits from close affiliations with engineering initiatives including Photonics and synthetic and systems biology. Boston University expects excellence in teaching and in research, and is committed to building a culturally, racially, and ethnically diverse scholarly community. The successful candidate will be offered newly renovated laboratory facilities as well as a competitive salary and start-up package.
