As part of the university's comprehensive vaccination program, all Cornell employees are required to have and provide proof of an FDA-or WHO-authorized or approved COVID-19 primary vaccination or have obtained a university-approved disability/medical or religious exemption, regardless of their role and work location.
New hires are required to provide documentation showing primary vaccination status (that is, completion of two shots of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine or one shot of the Janssen/Johnson & Johnson) before their first day of work. If a new hire's vaccination is not complete or information is not received by their start date, the first day of work will be delayed. DEPARTMENT MISSION AND BACKGROUND INFORMATION THE CORNELL CENTER FOR MATERIALS RESEARCH (CCMR) SUPPORTS FUNDAMENTAL MATERIALS RESEARCH AND SERVES STUDENTS, SCIENTISTS, AND RESEARCHERS FROM CORNELL AND OTHER ACADEMIC, GOVERNMENT, OR INDUSTRY RESEARCHERS FROM AROUND THE WORLD.
The Cornell Center for Materials Research (CCMR) seeks a research scientist to join our scientific team. The research scientist will become a member of ~12 expert staff in our core facility supporting fundamental materials research. This position will directly support surface analysis techniques (e.g., AFM, XPS), microscopy, spectroscopy. There will be frequent need to develop analytical techniques, find creative solutions to research requests, upgrade and troubleshoot instrumentation. The position is ideal for someone who can adeptly operate scientific instrumentation, optimize sample analyses, and can prioritize multiple, changing tasks. There may be opportunities to participate as a co-author in the preparation of scientific publications. The CCMR Shared Instrumentation Facility is part of the nation’s mid-sized user facility network supporting fundamental materials research and serving students, scientists, and researchers at Cornell and other academic, government, or industry researchers from around the world. www.ccmr.cornell.edu/facilities
