Director – Institute for Nuclear Theory

The University of Washington seeks outstanding applicants to serve as Director for the Institute for Nuclear Theory (INT) and tenured Professor in the Department of Physics.  The INT is the Department of Energy’s national visitor center in this field, see http://www.int.washington.edu/about.html. This is a full-time 12-month position, anticipated to begin in Autumn 2022.

The successful applicant will be expected to engage in innovative research and leadership in nuclear physics, incorporate a broad perspective on nuclear physics, work to maintain and enhance the vitality of the INT’s programs and local research efforts, and commit to building ties with related subfields including astro, particle, atomic, and condensed matter physics.  All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service; in particular, opportunities are available for teaching, advising graduate students, and mentoring postdoctoral scholars.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree, or foreign equivalent, and a strong record of published research in nuclear theory, broadly construed.
