The College of Health (COH) and the Office of International Affairs (OIA) at Lehigh University invite applications for a Global Health Professor of Practice to lead and manage the development of the university’s partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO), develop internship and experiential learning opportunities in Global Health for College of Health students, and offer courses related to those experiential opportunities as well as in the faculty members’ areas of expertise in Global Health. The appointment is a 12-month, full time, 5-year, repeatedly renewable, non-tenure track position in the Department of Community and Population Health in the College of Health, with a secondary administrative appointment in the Office of International Affairs.

Candidates for the Global Health Professor of Practice position must possess an earned doctorate degree in a social science, public health, or population health field with a Global Health focus, or a Masters level degree (MS, MPH, MSN, etc.) with significant work experience in the Global Health sector. The teaching responsibilities of the position include offering three classes a year, including “Introduction to Global Health,” and classes relevant to the faculty member’s areas of expertise (including courses taught as study abroad), advising Global Population Health minors, and advising majors with Global Population Health concentrations. The administrative responsibilities include developing and managing the educational aspects of our nascent partnership with WHO; identifying existing and developing new experiential learning opportunities for COH students through the United Nations, WHO, and other global health networks; developing, managing, and assessing globally focused internship opportunities for students in the COH; matching COH students with existing study abroad programs in health as well as developing new study abroad programs in health. The faculty member in this position will work closely with the College of Health Dean, Associate Deans, Staff, Department Chair, and faculty as well as the Vice President/Vice Provost for International Affairs, the Directors of the nine divisions of the Office of International Affairs, and the Center for Career and Professional Development.

The mission of the College of Health, the newest of 5 colleges at Lehigh University, is to improve human health outcomes domestically and globally with data-driven research and education in three primary areas of focus: population & community health, precision health, and health innovation & technology. The College of Health offers undergraduate majors in Population Health, as well as Community and Global Health, and graduate degrees including a Masters in Public Health, and an MS and PhD in Population Health. The distinctive experiences of undergraduates and graduate students in the College of Health include an innovative curriculum, experiential learning opportunities, and integrated career and professional development. The Global Health praxis position is designed to advance experiential learning and internship opportunities in Global Health.
