The Department of English at Colgate University invites applications for a tenure-stream position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning fall semester 2022. We seek candidates with a specialty in British literature from Milton through the Romantics who can also teach our introductory course in British poetry. Applicants should be by training well grounded in poetry but with the ability to design courses in mid-seventeenth- to early-nineteenth-century British literature in a range of genres. Completion of Ph.D. is required prior to or shortly after the date of hire. Teaching assignment of five courses per year includes the introductory British poetry course and advanced courses in literature. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum.
