The Department of Theater Studies at Duke University in Durham, NC invites applications for an Assistant Professor of the Practice to begin July 2022. The field is Acting. This full-time, regular-rank position with opportunity for promotion requires an MFA, DFA, or PhD in Theater or related field at the time of hire. The 2/2 teaching load will include introductory and advanced Acting classes as well as other courses to be determined by the successful applicant. The ability to teach one or more of voice and speech, Black theater, global performance traditions, musical theater, acting for the camera, and devised/collaborative work is a considerable asset; so too is the ability to direct productions. Preference will be given to candidates who can diversify the department’s curricular offerings. The renewable appointment will have an initial term of four years. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
