Position Description: |
The Simons Collaboration on Global Categorical Symmetries invites applications for postdoctoral fellowships to begin in the 2022-2023 academic year. This is a joint physics and mathematics research program focused on the interplay between quantum field theory, topology, higher category theory, representation theory, and related topics. Further information about our collaboration and its research activities can be found on our website: https://scgcs.berkeley.edu Postdoctoral members of the collaboration will have a primary supervisor, but will have the opportunity to make extended visits to other collaboration sites, to contribute to joint research activities, and to participate in collaboration workshops and summer schools. Positions are expected to be three years, contingent on approval of the hosting institution. The collaboration sites and the corresponding Principal Investigators are: Physics Durham University (Matthew Bullimore, Iñaki García Etxebarria) Johns Hopkins University (Ibrahima Bah) University of California Los Angeles (Thomas Dumitrescu) University of California San Diego (Ken Intriligator) University of Chicago (Clay Córdova) Uppsala University (Michele Del Zotto) Mathematics Harvard University (Mike Hopkins) Indiana University (Julia Plavnik) Perimeter Institute & Dalhousie University (Theo Johnson-Freyd) Technical University of Munich (Claudia Scheimbauer) University of California Berkeley (Constantin Teleman, Nicolai Reshetikhin) University of Edinburgh (David Jordan) University of Texas Austin (Dan Freed) Zurich University (Alberto Cattaneo) Applicants in Physics as well as those applying to Perimeter Institute/Dalhousie University should submit an application on AJO for group evaluation. For applications to other mathematics host sites, see the posting on our webpage https://scgcs.berkeley.edu/open-positions/. Applications should consist of a CV, a list of publications, a summary of research interests, and three letters of recommendation. Applicants must have received the Ph.D. degree prior to the start of the appointment. Applicants should specify a ranked list of collaboration sites for which they wish to be considered. We also encourage applicants to apply to postdocs at the individual hosting institutions (links may be found here: https://scgcs.berkeley.edu/open-positions/). For full consideration, applications should be received by December 5, 2021. All institutions involved are equal opportunity employers and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
