Position: Assistant Professor of Communication Studies (Social Science)
Effective Date: August 17, 2022 (Fall Semester)
Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Required Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in Communication. Degree at the time of application or official notification of completion of doctoral degree by August 1, 2022. 
• Evidence of potential for excellence in teaching at the college level
• Evidence of potential for an ongoing, successful record of research, scholarly and creative activities, and publication
• Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population

Preferred Qualifications:
• A communication scientist who can teach communication theory, quantitative communication research methods, and who has expertise and the ability to teach courses in one of the following areas: interpersonal, instructional, or bargaining and negotiation.
• A research agenda that employs social science methodologies
• A commitment to culturally responsive teaching, or instructors who center students in pedagogy and draw from their diverse experiences as a source for learning • A commitment to engaging students through experiential learning, mentoring, internship supervision, program development, career guidance, and/or service learning
• A commitment to meeting department needs through collaborative efforts in service, research, and curriculum development
• Experience of successfully working with populations demographically and socioeconomically similar to the CSULB student body

Duties:
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses that fulfill curriculum needs in communication research and theory in our current curriculum, as well as courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. [Mode of instruction may include in-person, hybrid, online, and/or any combination thereof.]
• Remain current in the subject matter areas and in the techniques of effective instruction
• Engage in a systematic program of scholarship resulting in conference presentations and publication and advise and direct students in academic projects and scholarly activities
• Participate in service to department, college, university, and community
