The Department of Physics at the Chinese University of Hong Kong has multiple openings for postdoctoral positions in Prof. Renbin Yan’s research group, with different research directions for each position. Prof. Yan’s research focuses on the physics of the interstellar medium in galaxies and astronomical instrumentation. We are leading the development of the prototype spectrograph for the Affordable Multiple Aperture Spectroscopy Explorer (AMASE) project. AMASE is a planned project to conduct integral field spectroscopy observations over a large contiguous sky area for the study of star formation feedback and galaxy evolution (see arXiv:2105.11471). We are looking for candidates with different skills and research interests, including astronomical instrumentation, developments of data reduction and analysis pipelines, and observational studies of the ISM physics using data from SDSS-IV/MaNGA and AMASE. Candidates with skills and interests on any of these subjects are welcome to apply.
