The Michigan State University high energy physics group has an opening for a high energy physics technician. The MSU HEP group is involved in the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider, the HAWC experiment in Mexico, the IceCube experiment at the South Pole, the T2K experiment in Japan, the NOvA experiment at Fermilab/Minnesota and the DUNE experiment at Fermilab/South Dakota.

The technician will work with faculty and students on the fabrication and testing of equipment designed for high energy physics experiments at Fermilab, CERN, the South Pole, and other off-campus locations. Travel may be required for installation and maintenance of the equipment. Some tasks will require precision work.

Desired Qualifications The technician should have some skills in machining (operation of drill press, milling machine, lathe) and computing (maintaining a database). It would be useful if the technician had some background in elementary electronics.
