Postdoctoral researcher to work in the area of DNA damage signaling, R-loop dynamics, genotoxic therapeutics, and glioblastoma treatment. The work involves a combination of CRISPR-based high-throughput screens and follow-up analysis of signaling pathways and DNA repair, including both organoid and animal models of cancer. The ideal candidate should have prior experience in signal transduction, cell culture, DNA damage, and/or cancer therapeutics. Prior experience with animal models of cancer and CRISPR-based technologies is helpful but not required.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an interest in cancer therapeutics, screening technologies, and/or systems biology who wishes to investigate cell signaling processes and their impact on cancer therapy while working with other passionate scientists in a collegial, project-driven laboratory. The Yaffe lab believes that a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative team is essential for the success of their research program, and Dr. Yaffe is an experienced mentor dedicated to helping his trainees cultivate professional development skills and success in their independent scientific careers. QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D. is required. Specific degree areas include DNA damage signaling, R-loop dynamics, genotoxic therapeutics, and glioblastoma treatment. We are looking for candidates with experience managing an independent research project to completion and publication, as well as working in signal transduction, DNA damage, cell culture, and cancer therapeutics is required. Experience with a variety of biochemistry and molecular biology techniques is strongly preferred, as is experience working with CRISPR-based technologies and mice. Skills and Abilities: ability to learn quickly and to work both independently and within a team; ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people from all backgrounds and at all levels of training; excellent oral and written communication skills; high level of professionalism and excellent interpersonal skills; positive attitude with a problem-solving, resilient mindset.
