Engineering Management Adjunct

The Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University is seeking a Non-Regular Rank Adjunct Professor to teach Masters-level classes. The faculty member will teach a graduate-level Management in High Tech Industries course for students in the Master of Engineering Management program. This position is expected to be part time teaching 1-2 course sections per semester on-campus at Duke University in Durham, N.C.

This appointment runs from January 1, 2022 to July 31, 2024.

Candidates should have relevant experience and a track record of helping individuals, particularly in science & technology fields learn concepts and practice skills that will enable them to transition from being an individual contributor to managing and leading others as a business professional. The candidate should demonstrate competence in areas such as understanding of management and leadership; developing awareness of own management and leadership styles; building and practicing competencies essential for team success; and helping individuals become ethical leaders above reproach. They will also have a PhD in engineering, psychology, or a related field (or commensurate industry leadership experience plus a master’s degree). Prior teaching experience in a university setting is preferred but not required.

The successful candidate for this role will be expected to:

• Teach one or more graduate courses each semester

• Collaborate with faculty across multiple departments in the School of Engineering

• Develop and deliver world class Management in High Tech Industries courses
