The nuclear theory group at Iowa State University invites applications for a postdoctoral position starting in the fall of 2022. Start date is flexible (with some preference for September 1 start date). We especially invite applicants with research interests in quantum phases of QCD and QCD like theories, formal aspects of lattice field theory, interplay of strong interactions with topological phases of matter, effective field theories and nuclear astrophysics. This is a two-year position with the possibility of a third-year contingent on funding and satisfactory performance.
The local group's research interests include QCD, lattice gauge theory, topological quantum phase transitions, quantum computing, effective field theory, relativistic heavy ion physics, nuclear astrophysics, physics of highly intense fields and nuclear structure theory. The Nuclear theory faculty include Srimoyee Sen, Kirill Tuchin and James Vary. The group also has close interactions with the condensed matter theory group and the experimental nuclear group at Iowa State. The group is part of the theory cluster initiative at Iowa State University.
