The College of Arts & Sciences, Department of Microbiology (microbiology.osu.edu) and the Foods for Health Discovery Theme (https://foodsforhealth.osu.edu/) at The Ohio State University invite applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the area of Microbiome Science, with an emphasis on understanding microbial community metabolism in the context of human health, diet, and/or nutrition. The successful candidate will establish an independent research program relevant to the Discovery Theme’s mission and contribute to teaching in the Department of Microbiology. The new faculty member will join an interdisciplinary community on the main campus in Columbus, Ohio, which includes a network between the Infectious Disease Institute, the Center of Microbiome Science, and the EMERGE Biology Integration Institute. Further, our partners - Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and the Ohio Supercomputer Center - offer many opportunities for collaboration and advancement of research programs. This position is partially funded by the Foods for Health Discovery Theme, which has spurred significant cross-program faculty hiring to build on Ohio State’s culture of academic collaboration to innovate and make a global impact. Qualifications:

A PhD in microbiology, biochemistry, computational biology or a related field and expertise in the area of microbiome science. Postdoctoral experience with a demonstrated record of productivity is required. Outstanding applicants in all areas of microbiome science will be considered, but research areas of special interest include the human microbiome and its relationship to metabolism and nutrition. Appointment is contingent on the university’s verification of credentials and other information required by law and/or university policies, including but not limited to a criminal background check.
