| The Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute (HDSI) at UC San Diego and the Simons Institute for the Theory of Computing at UC Berkeley invite applications for postdoctoral fellows in Data Science. Responsibilities: Fellows will be expected to lead cutting-edge research on topics related to the foundations of Data Science, work alongside faculty members at HDSI, and participate in collaborations at Simons. Applicants will also have the opportunity to develop their own research agenda, and have the option of teaching data science courses at UCSD. HDSI at UC San Diego is an academic unit with undergraduate and new graduate degree programs in Data Science. The Institute hosts over 40 faculty members across UCSD in Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Bioengineering, Mathematics, Cognitive Science, Neurobiology, Neurosciences, Biostatistics, Communications, and Philosophy. Fellows will be expected to work with any of the faculty members at HDSI. on the faculty council of the Institute. Logistics: This is a two-year position for outstanding researchers preparing for careers in the academy or industry. Fellows will be hosted for 2 years. Fellows will be based at HDSI and will spend up to one semester at the Simons Institute in Berkeley. Fellows will receive a research budget as a subsidy to cover housing expenses in Berkeley. Fellows will be expected to start July 1, 2022. Appointments and salary are commensurate with research experience and accomplishments following current UCSD guidelines.
