Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate with the Physics Department at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The successful candidate will be based at Fermilab and work on the muon g-2 experiment making an improved measurement of the muon magnetic moment anomaly. Comparison of the results with theoretical predictions allows a high precision test of the Standard Model, with outstanding sensitivity to new physics.

UMass researchers have responsibilities for precision NMR-based magnetic field measurements, magnetic field analysis, and other aspects of the experiment. More details about this exciting experiment can be found at

The position is for one year initially, with the possibility of renewal. A Ph.D. in experimental AMO, nuclear, particle physics or related field is required. Candidates with some hardware experience preferred.

Candidates should submit a brief cover letter, a CV, a statement summarizing research experience and interests, and arrange for three letters of reference to be sent using the following link:

The search will continue until the position is filled. Questions should be sent to Prof. Dave Kawall (
