Westlake University is a new type of
non-profit research-oriented university in the People's Republic of China,
supported by public and private funding. At Westlake, we strive for excellence

and refined to ensure research and education quality. Our three schools, School of Life
Sciences, School of Science, and School of Engineering, focus on selected
natural and life sciences and engineering disciplines, emphasizing
interdisciplinary collaboration. Our goal is to cultivate generations of talent
that dare to step into the unknown and are willing to take social
responsibility. Westlake University is currently
accepting multiple applications from high-level talent for teaching faculty
positions to expand the university's professional teaching force further and
establish a high-level teaching system aligned with the university's mission
and goals. The specific job responsibilities and qualifications are as follows:
1. TEACHING FACULTY POSITIONS IN ENGLISH (ESL) Responsibilities: -
Develop global standard
English curricula and courses; create a standardized evaluation system for the
assessment of students’ English ability. -
Teach doctoral and future
undergraduate students’ English courses, and assist students in developing
English skills using an integrated and creative approach. -
Maintain current
professional best practices in ESL teaching methods and technology through
active learning and self-training. -
Ensure sufficient office
hours to assist students in regular consultation, and the use of library
resources, online databases, and other information resources. -
Organize or participate
in other teaching-related and English-related activities on campus. Qualifications: -
Possess or acquire a
strong familiarity with Westlake University; strong professional ethics and
sense of dedication in teaching which personally aligns with Westlake
University’s missions and goals. Passionate about teaching English with
extensive theoretical and practical experience. -
Master’s degree or above
(Ph.D. preferred) in TESOL/TEFL, Applied Linguistics, or a closely related
field. -
Applicants with advanced
degrees in other fields who have obtained a TESOL/TEFL certificate and have
extensive experience teaching ESL students will also be considered. -
Three or more years of
university-level ESL teaching experience. -
Two or more years of
experience teaching English as a second language (in non-native English-speaking
countries). -
Strong communication,
writing, and interpersonal skills.
2. TEACHING FACULTY POSITIONS IN HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES Responsibilities: -
Develop global standard
curricula and courses in humanities and social sciences. -
Teach doctoral and future
undergraduate students’ courses in humanities and social sciences (mostly in
English). -
Ensure sufficient office
hours to assist students in regular consultation. -
Organize or participate
in other teaching and cultural activities on campus. Qualifications: -
Possess or acquire a
strong familiarity with Westlake University; strong professional ethics and
sense of dedication in teaching which personally aligns with Westlake
University’s missions and goals. Passionate about teaching humanities and
social sciences with extensive theoretical and practical experience. -
Demonstrated ability to
design and deliver a creative curriculum. -
Ph.D. degree in
Humanities and Social Sciences disciplines (areas related to literature,
philosophy, history, economics, sociology are preferred). -
Applicants with overseas
education/teaching experience and a demonstrated competence in bilingual
teaching will be given preference. -
Strong communication,
writing, and interpersonal skills.
3. TEACHING FACULTY POSITIONS IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION Responsibilities: -
Develop global standard PE curricula and courses, and develop the sports culture on campus. -
Teach PE courses
to doctoral and future undergraduate students of all majors; invite and contact
elite athletes and coaches to offer special PE courses. -
Coach the
university’s sports teams and organize PE tests for students. -
Provide guidance
for the university’s sports clubs, coordinate and organize various university
sports activities, and assist in the construction of sports venues and
facilities. -
Ensure sufficient office
hours to assist students in regular consultation. -
Organize or
participate in other PE teaching and cultural events on campus.
Qualifications: -
Possess or acquire a strong familiarity
with Westlake University; strong professional ethics and sense of dedication in
teaching which personally aligns with Westlake University’s missions and goals.
Passionate about physical education with
extensive theoretical and practical experience. -
Excellent ranking
in national sports competitions or above,
or a master or equivalent degree in sports, physical education, or other
closely related fields (A Ph.D. degree,
National Athlete Certificate of First-Class Level or above, university-level PE
teaching experience, or bi-lingual teaching experience are preferred). -
Strong communication, writing and
interpersonal skills.
4. TEACHING FACULTY POSITION IN PSYCHOLOGY Responsibilities: -
Develop bilingual
psychology curricula for doctoral
and future undergraduate students according to the
requirements of national and governmental regulations, teach mental health
courses to doctoral and
future undergraduate students. -
Provide
individual/group psychological counseling. -
Maintain current
professional best practices in psychological counseling and teaching through active learning and
self-training. -
Organize mental health
activities for students, faculty and staff. -
Organize or participate
in other psychology-related activities on campus. Qualifications: -
Possess or acquire a
strong familiarity with Westlake University; strong professional ethics and
sense of dedication in teaching which personally aligns with Westlake
University’s missions and goals. Ph.D. degree in psychology or closely related
fields obtained from a leading Chinese or international university. -
Great professional
knowledge and academic competency, experienced in teaching mental health
courses, familiar with the characters and patterns of university students’
mental health issues. -
Certifications or
licenses in psychological counseling, able to spot and intervene in mental
health risks and provide individual and group psychological counseling. -
Strong communication,
writing, and interpersonal skills; comfortable to teach in both English and Chinese.
5. TEACHING FACULTY POSITIONS IN MATHEMATICS Responsibilities: -
Develop global standard curricula and courses in mathematics. -
Teach introductory
math courses to future non-math major undergraduate students (in English). -
Design and teach
elective math courses to doctoral and future senior undergraduate students
majoring in Physics and Engineering (in English). -
Enhance student
motivation and interest
in mathematics. -
Support students’
learning and provide individualized assistance; ensure sufficient office hours
to assist students in regular consultation; provide training and guidance to
teaching assistants. -
Organize and participate
in other math teaching activities on campus. Qualifications: -
Possess or acquire a strong familiarity
with Westlake University; strong professional ethics and sense of dedication in
teaching which personally aligns with Westlake University’s missions and goals.
Passionate about teaching mathematics with extensive theoretical and practical
experience. -
Ph.D. degree in
Mathematics or a closely related field obtained from a leading Chinese or
international university. -
Experienced
in teaching introductory courses on topics such as calculus, linear algebra,
and statistics in English; teaching experience in additional courses such as
differential equation (ODE and PDE), mathematical modeling, mathematical
physics methods, stochastic process, numerical analysis, and abstract algebra is
preferred. -
Strong communication,
writing and interpersonal skills.
6. TEACHING FACULTY POSITIONS IN PHYSICS Responsibilities: -
Develop and teach introductory physics courses
for undergraduate students majoring in Science and Engineering (all courses shall be taught in English, including
lab classes). -
Enhance students’
motivation and interest
in physics. -
Support students’
learning and provide individualized assistance; ensure sufficient office hours
to assist students in regular consultation; provide training and guidance to
teaching assistants. -
Organize and participate
in other physics teaching activities on campus. Qualifications: -
Possess or acquire a
strong familiarity with Westlake University; strong professional ethics and
sense of dedication in teaching which personally aligns with Westlake University’s
missions and goals. Passionate about teaching physics with extensive
theoretical knowledge and practical experience. -
Ph.D. degree in Physics
or a closely related field obtained from a leading Chinese or international
university. -
Experienced
in teaching introductory physics courses in world-leading universities with
demonstrated ability to teach in English. -
Strong communication,
writing, and interpersonal skills.
7. TEACHING FACULTY POSITION IN CHEMISTRY Responsibilities: -
Develop and teach introductory chemistry courses
(including lab courses) for future undergraduate students majoring in Science
and Engineering (in English). -
Enhance students’
motivation and interest in chemistry. -
Support students’ learning
and provide individualized assistance; ensure sufficient office hours to assist
students in regular consultation; provide training and guidance to teaching
assistants. -
Organize and participate
in other chemistry teaching activities on campus. Qualifications: -
Possess or acquire a
strong familiarity with Westlake University; strong professional ethics and
sense of dedication in teaching which personally aligns with Westlake
University’s missions and goals. Passionate about teaching chemistry with extensive
theoretical and practical experience. -
Ph.D. degree in Chemistry
or a closely related field obtained from a leading Chinese or international
university. -
Three or more years of
teaching experience in chemistry at world-leading universities in China or
abroad with demonstrated
ability to teach in English. -
Strong communication,
writing, and interpersonal skills.
