The Department of Classics at The Ohio State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. We are looking for scholars whose research focuses on the topics of race, ethnicity, and/or gender, either in the ancient world or in the history and reception of the classical tradition. Candidates will teach graduate and undergraduate courses, as well as a language (ancient Greek and/or Latin), and contribute to our general education curriculum. Depending upon the focus of the candidates’ scholarship, they will have opportunities to collaborate with departments such as Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies or African American and African Studies.

Qualifications: This appointment will begin August 15, 2022, and the successful applicant must have PhD in hand in Classics or a related field that confers the equivalent training in both the ancient Greek and Latin languages by the start of employment. Teaching experience at the college level is preferred, as is a record of original peer-reviewed publications. ABDs welcome to apply.
