The Illinois Institute of Technology seeks an individual for a full-time, 9-month position as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Physics (https://www.iit.edu/physics). The appointment period for this position is from 1-5 years and may be renewed. The start date is August 15th, 2022.

We seek candidates with a strong Astronomy/Astrophysics background to manage our Astrophysics program and teach undergraduate courses in Physics and Astrophysics. The successful applicant would be expected to teach undergraduate physics courses in Mechanics, E&M and Modern Physics as well as the astrophysics courses required by our program. We are seeking a dynamic and engaging lecturer with demonstrated potential for overall excellence in teaching. Lecturers in the department typically teach three courses per semester in the fall and spring terms, become members of some service committees, mentor and advise undergraduates and help with recruitment activities. Opportunities for summer teaching employment may also be available. An ability to engage undergraduate students in research projects would be highly welcomed.

Annual salary is negotiable and dependent upon the candidate’s previous experience and qualifications. Qualifications • Ph.D. in Astrophysics • Previous teaching experience is desirable but not required
