The Meyer laboratory seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to work on federally-funded projects related to the toxicological effects of pollutants. The Meyer laboratory studies the effects of pollutants and other stressors on mitochondria and DNA, often using the model organism Caenorhabditis elegans or cell culture. We have a particular interest in how genetic differences can lead to altered sensitivity to environmental stressors. Postdoctoral researchers are expected to contribute to participate in mentoring of junior laboratory members, laboratory meetings including journal clubs, and routine laboratory maintenance jobs. The successful applicant will join a thriving community of environmental health researchers at the Nicholas School of the Environment, the department of Biology, the Global Health Institute, the Duke Medical Center, and Civil and Environmental Engineering , who work together via interdisciplinary research and training programs such as the Integrated Toxicology and Environmental Health Program and the Superfund Research Center.

TERM 1 year, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding.

QUALIFICATIONS Applicants should hold a PhD in environmental toxicology, mitochondrial biology, neurobiology, or a related field. We seek applicants with a strong interest in environmental toxicology and health, and training in molecular and cellular techniques. Experience with C. elegans and cell culture are ideal, as is a background in oxidative damage and signaling.
