NON-TENURE TRACK FACULTY POSITIONS IN RISK MANAGEMENT AND INSURANCE

GEORGIA STATE UNIVERSITY invites applications for one or more non-tenure track positions, effective Fall 2022, in the Department of Risk Management and Insurance at the Robinson College of Business. Rank is open, but we expect to hire at the non-tenure track ranks of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Professor of Practice.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS This is an ideal opportunity for someone with an interest in pursuing teaching and research informed by risk-related business experience or applications. Candidates must have completed a Ph.D. or an Executive Doctorate by the time of appointment (or be on track to complete one) in a field relevant to the position such as risk management and insurance, economics, finance, statistics, actuarial science, mathematics, or related field. We invite applications from candidates who can serve as the program director of our Master’s program in Quantitative Risk Analysis and Management (QRAM), run experiential learning industry engagement student projects, and teach undergraduate and graduate classes at the intersection of econometrics/data analysis, actuarial science, InsurTech, and financial engineering. We also welcome applicants with relevant business experience or interests in Actuarial Science, especially those with actuarial designations from the Society of Actuaries, the Casualty Actuarial Society, or other actuarial credentialing bodies. The salary level and course load are commensurate for clinical faculty at US business schools.

THE ENVIRONMENT

The mission of the Department of Risk Management and Insurance at Georgia State University is to better understand how risks faced by individuals, institutions, and societies can be more accurately measured and more efficiently managed. Faculty members have risk-related research interests including behavioral economics, experimental methods, actuarial science, mathematical finance, econometrics, household finance, corporate decision-making, legal risk, and insurance economics, among others. The department is one of the oldest and most influential risk management programs in the U.S. and has a distinguished history of serving students, alumni, and the risk management profession for more than 60 years. The department enjoys strong support from, and collaboration with, industry partners in risk-related industries in the Atlanta area, nationally, and internationally, and is committed to exploring the role of data analysis and new technology in shaping the pricing, processes, and products in risk-related markets in its research and teaching.

The Department of Risk Management and Insurance offers undergraduate degrees in Actuarial Science as well as Risk Management and Insurance; masters degrees in Actuarial Science as well as Quantitative Risk Analysis and Management (QRAM); and, a Ph.D. program. Our QRAM program is currently ranked 6th in the nation among public financial engineering programs and 15th overall by the TFE Times. We are also currently ranked #4 in the U.S. News and World Report ranking of RMI programs and ranked #1 in actuarial science research among all North American business schools; we hold a Center of Actuarial Excellence designation from the Society of Actuaries, we were recognized by the Casualty Actuarial Society in their University Award Program in 2021, and we have been named a Global Center of Insurance Excellence by the International Insurance Society. The department is the home for the Center for the Economic Analysis of Risk (CEAR).
