Position Description: The University of Maryland at College Park is accepting applications for a postdoctoral position to fill an experimental position pertaining to quantum computing with superconducting devices. This research will be conducted at the Laboratory for Physical Sciences (LPS) in College Park, MD. LPS is a unique facility, located adjacent to the University of Maryland's College Park campus, where university and federal government personnel collaborate on research in the physical sciences. LPS hosts many cryogenic research laboratories for quantum computing and other solid-state research and includes advanced cleanroom and nanofabrication facilities.

This postdoctoral position, which requires a Ph.D. in physics or electrical engineering will be advised by Dr. Ben Palmer. A list of potential projects includes: • Studies of non-equilibrium quasiparticle suppression, • Development of a hot electron bolometer to assess the broadband low-temperature noise environment, or • Implementation of new single and entangling gates.

Desired Qualifications: Since the applicant will need to design, fabricate, model, and perform measurements, expertise is desired in the following areas: 1. Superconducting, rf superconductivity, or Josephson junction devices, 2. Experimental expertise with low-noise electronics, RF, and low-temperature measurements, 3. Fabrication skills involving photolithography, electron-beam lithography, and metal deposition, 4. Scientific computing experience, and 5. Quantum information.

Application Materials Required: Qualified applicants should submit the following to the LQC at lqc@lps.gov. • CV • List of publications • Contact information for at least two references.
