Position Description
In collaboration with OCE faculty and staff, the Managing Director will be expected to work to refine and execute the OCE’s strategic objectives. Responsibilities will include budget, billing, metrics, student/postdoctoral/visiting researcher support, and preparing collaborative grant applications to fund OCE research.
The Managing Director works both independently and under the direction of the OCE Director.
The Managing Director will need to work collaboratively with a wide variety of individuals and organizations and must be comfortable and competent interfacing with stakeholders as a (typically non-technical) representative of the OCE and its mission. This position will build relationships with a diverse array of stakeholders both internal and external to UO including faculty, industry partners, and national laboratories in the US and abroad.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of skills and experience
One year of experience managing a grant-funded program, or other related experience
Professional Competencies
Strong written communication skills; strong organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in managing and facilitating multifaceted programs in commercial, industrial, and/or academic environments. A scientific/technical background is not required for this position, although candidates with scientific/technical backgrounds are certainly also encouraged to apply.
